American Girl is continuing its 40th anniversary celebrations by introducing a special new addition to the family.

The brand introduces Daisy Davenport as the 2027 Girl of the Year. Each year, Girl of the Year introduces readers to a contemporary character whose experiences, passions, and challenges reflect the world around them – inspiring confidence, individuality, and imagination for a new generation.

Daisy is an energetic young soccer star who is gearing up for a very special summer, her first at sleepaway camp. But as her book, Daisy Davenport Saves the Day, reveals, her plans for a "perfect summer" are put at risk when Daisy's best friend, Callie, gets injured and can't go to camp with her.

Daisy is forced to step outside her comfort zone to navigate her first summer at Camp Gowonagin, which presents challenges such as overcoming her fear of the dark and trying new activities like canoeing.

While Daisy has her doubts, she also learns she's capable of perseverance, kindness, and courage. The story follows Daisy as she builds confidence and learns that even when things don't go as planned, she can still create a meaningful and memorable experience.

Megan Wagner Lloyd, who penned Daisy Davenport Saves the Day, shared a special video announcing Daisy's story with the help of an American Girl original, Molly.
