Beloved Indie Wrestler Retires After 19 Years Following Career-Ending Injury

Chase “Uncle” Burnett has announced his retirement from professional wrestling after 19 years on the independent scene. The Michigan-based veteran revealed that a serious injury has forced him to step away from active competition.
Burnett shared the news in a lengthy statement, explaining that he had reached a point where continuing to wrestle could affect the rest of his life. He revealed that he is currently dealing with two broken bones in his leg and a third fracture, with surgery ahead.
“I suffered a career ending injury. I will no longer be an active professional wrestler,” Burnett wrote. “I can’t let my injuries alter the rest of my life.”

Burnett competed extensively across the Michigan and Midwest independent wrestling scenes, making appearances for promotions including ACIW, NEPW, AIW and GCW. His career included a reputation for innovation, particularly as a high-flyer willing to experiment with new moves and styles.
Looking back, Burnett said he believes he left wrestling better than he found it. He also highlighted his work as a mentor and trainer, noting that he had “trained a few great wrestlers and mentored even more.”

Burnett also remembered the fans who supported him through different stages of his life. “You watched me grow up. We grew up together,” he wrote.
The veteran thanked numerous promoters, trainers, opponents, and wrestling communities, while giving special recognition to Solomon Johnson. Burnett described their work together as a “true collaboration,” adding that they created a new move for nearly every match.
Burnett said he plans to make additional posts reflecting on his career. For now, however, the 19-year journey has reached its final bell.
