- He also thanked fans for checking in on him, sharing that the swelling has gone down "a decent amount" and that he was fine to perform at their next show.

Bring Me the Horizon vocalist Oli Sykes is sharing a health update after being struck in the head by a cell phone at a recent concert.

The “Chelsea Smile” singer, 39, revealed that he suffered a “mild concussion” after being hit with the object while performing at the Enterprise Center in St. Louis, Mo., on Monday.

“Alright everyone — just wanted to let you know I’m all good,” Sykes wrote on his Instagram Story on Tuesday. “The phone to the head definitely smarted and I ended up with a mild concussion, but the swelling’s gone down a decent amount already.”

In video footage from the event posted on social media, Sykes can be seen performing BMTH’s 2015 hit “Happy Song” when a phone flies into view and conks him on the left side of the head. After dipping down to pick it up, he asks the crowd, “Who the f--- just threw a phone at my f---ing head? You f---ing tosser.”

Additional clips included in the video show Sykes in visible pain after the incident, repeatedly rubbing his temple and, at one point, seemingly checking his hair for blood.

On his Instagram Story, Sykes admitted that he was “struggling a bit on stage” after the hit “because singing was putting a lot of pressure on the wound and making things feel a bit disorienting while performing.” He continued, “So I’m sorry on my part of what may of seemed like a half hearted performance.”

The musician went on to thank his fans and loved ones for their concern and promised that “everything should be fine” for their gig at the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City, Mo., that evening.

Sykes is the latest addition to a growing list of artists who have been put in danger or seriously injured by fans who toss personal items onstage. In March, country musician Riley Green revealed he had to get stitches after a concertgoer similarly threw a cell phone that hit his head.

“5 stitches later… sewed up,” Green wrote on his Instagram Story at the time, sharing an image of his stitched-up ear. He also joked that he’d be passing out phone tethers at his next gig.

Other stars — like Harry Styles, Bebe Rexha, and Kelsea Ballerini — have also been hit with projectiles during their performances in recent years. The trend became so commonplace that Taylor Swift addressed it while on her Eras Tour in 2023, telling a Buenos Aires crowd that “it really freaks me out” when items get thrown onstage.

“I love that you brought presents and that is so nice, but just can you please not throw them on the stage,” Swift added. “I love you so much."

Bring Me the Horizon is slated to perform at the Grand Arena Casino in St. Paul, Minn., tonight as part of the North American leg of their Ascension 2 Program tour.
