July 30 (Reuters) - British American Tobacco reported a 7.9% rise in first-half profit at current currency on Thursday, beating expectations, as gains for its Velo nicotine pouches and Vuse vapes helped offset a decline in cigarette volumes.

The maker of Lucky Strike and Dunhill cigarettes posted adjusted diluted earnings of 164 pence per share, above analyst forecasts of 158.5 pence, according to a company-compiled consensus.
