Chris Noth is trying to downplay all the buzz over him throwing shade at his former costar Sarah Jessica Parker.

On Wednesday, the *Sex and the City *alum shared a statement on social media addressing the endorsement he gave to a fan's Instagram comment slamming Parker's recent awards success.

"My off the cuff slightly sarcastic response to a comment on the internet seems to have caused a tempest in a teapot," Noth wrote in the caption of his Instagram post (the photo was his own headshot). "It is not news. It is not worth all this discussion. It is a waste of time in a world where there are more important things to worry about."

The controversial actor — who was accused of (and denied) sexual assault in 2021 — caused the drama himself when he replied to a fan comment on his Jan. 9 Instagram post that seemed to be a dig at his former costar.

Noth shared a selfie in the gym with the cpation, "F--- new years - LET'S GO!!!!" and a fan wrote, "You mean f--- sjp & her award right? lol."

Parker, 60, had been honored with the Golden Globes' Carol Burnett Award on Jan. 6.

Noth responded to that comment, "Right."

The same fan again commented to Noth's reply, "I get it, you deserved better & I see how callous she is <3 you deserved better."

Noth was first accused of sexual assault by two women in December 2021 (the women made the allegations anonymously). They alleged that the reported assault happened in 2004 and 2015 in Los Angeles and New York. At the time, Noth denied the allegations and called them "categorically false."**

A third woman, musician Lisa Gentile, came forward to accuse Noth of assault at her workplace in 2010, while she worked as a hostess in New York City. She detailed an alleged 2002 encounter with Noth, claiming that the star sexually and verbally assaulted her at the time.

Noth again denied the allegations, though he was eventually fired from *The Equalizer* TV project in the aftermath. Additionally, his former *Sex and the City* colleagues — including Parker, Cynthia Nixon, and Kristin Davis — joined together to issue a statement about the allegations.

The statement included the stars saying that they "support the women who have come forward and shared their painful experiences. We know it must be a very difficult thing to do and we commend them for it."

Noth has not been formally charged or sued in connection with the allegations, and claimed that his only offense was being unfaithful to his wife, Tara Wilson.

"I'm not going to lay down and just say it's over... It's a salacious story, but it's just not a true one. And I can't just say 'Well, OK, that's it for me' because of that. I'm an actor. I have other things that I want to do creatively. And I have children to support. I can't just rest on my laurels," the actor said in a *USA Today *interview*.*

Noth briefly reunited with Parker in 2021 to reprise his *Sex and the City* role as Mr. Big in the series premiere of sequel *And Just Like That. *His character was killed off in the final scene. Despite filming additional scenes with Parker, he was cut from the season 1 finale amid the allegations against him.****
