Stars in the fashion and entertainment world are sharing tributes to Valentino Garavani.
The Italian fashion designer and founder of the celebrated Valentino brand died at 93, as revealed in a Jan. 19 social media post from Valentino's personal Instagram and his foundation.
The caption read, "Our founder, Valentino Garavani passed away today at his Roman residence, surrounded by his loved ones. The lying in state will be held at PM23 in Piazza Mignanelli 23 on Wednesday January 21st and Thursday January 22nd, from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm. The funeral will take place on Friday, January 23rd at the Basilica Santa Maria degli Angeli e dei Martiri, in Piazza della Repubblica 8 in Rome, at 11 am."
Fellow industry legends left comments on the Instagram post, including Pierpaolo Piccioli, who previously was creative director for Valentino. He simply commented a broken heart emoji.
Valentino was a favorite of stars such as Jennifer Aniston, Gwyneth Paltrow, Nicole Kidman and Anne Hathaway.
Paltrow shared a heartfelt Instagram post for the designer, who was also her longtime friend.
Along with a snap of the actress kissing Garavani's cheek, she wrote, "I was so lucky to know and love Valentino — to know the real man, in private. The man who was in love with beauty, his family, his muses, his friends. His dogs, his gardens, and a good Hollywood story. I loved him so much. I loved how he always pestered me to ‘at least wear a little mascara’ when I came to dinner. I loved his naughty laugh."
Paltrow added, "This feels like the end of an era. He will be deeply missed by me and all who loved him. Rest in peace, Vava 💔"

Cindy Crawford made her own tribute, captioning a photoset of herself and the late designer, "I’m heartbroken to hear of Valentino Garavani’s passing. He was a true master of his craft, and I will always be grateful for the years I had the privilege of working closely with him. ❤️🩹"
Coco Rocha mourned the fashion industry losing "another giant of our industry, and a true gentleman."
"I was lucky to know Valentino, not just as the iconic Roman couturier, but as a warm, generous presence who shaped fashion with grace, discipline, and beauty," the model wrote in an Instagram caption. "His legacy lives on in the restraint, elegance and conviction that defined both the man and his work."

In a heartfelt Instagram post, Zac Posen honored Garavani's legacy. "Mr. Valentino has left us, and with him an era of rare elegance and grace," the designer wrote. "He believed deeply in glamour, in beauty, and above all in the power and love of women. He was a true gentleman and a romantic in every sense of the word.Posen continued, "He was always generous and kind, welcoming so many of us into the beautiful world he and his family created over decades. To experience that generosity, even briefly, was a true gift."
He concluded the post with, "Sending my love and deepest condolences to his family, his chosen family, his loved ones, and his loyal atelier family. The world is more beautiful because he was in it."
Fashion publicist Kelly Cutrone shared a post dedicated to the designer, recalling the moment the fashion house asked her to pitch a campaign.
"A Long time ago on December 23, I received a phone call from Graziano the President of Valentino asking me to pitch for the account," Cutrone wrote in the caption. "I spent the day in my parents home office writing away - my mom was so mad and saying - can't you stop working and spend some time with your family? I said Mom - it's Valentino!"

She explains that her company staged an event for the designer, which she calls "an epic epic night and campaign."
"Sending love and thanks to the Valentino family @carlossouza1311 ❤️," Cutrone concluded the post.
