Jessi Draper Addresses Kissing “Mormon Wives” Costar Miranda Hope's Ex Chase McWhorter: 'I Screwed That Up'

Jessi Draper opened up about her infamous kiss with Chase McWhorter during an appearance on Hulu's Get Real podcast on May 14

Jessi Draper is opening up about her infamous kiss with Chase McWhorter.

In March — fresh off the news that she was getting divorced from Jordan Ngatikaura — Draper shared a kiss with McWhorter, notably the ex of Draper's Secret Lives of Mormon Wives costar Miranda Hope. Draper quickly took accountability for the move, sending Hope apology flowers with a note that read, "I completely understand you being upset with me.”

But during an appearance on Hulu's Get Real podcast on May 14, the reality TV star revealed that she hasn't fully made amends with Hope after her romantic involvement with her former flame.

“I would say, for the most part, I'm good with everyone,” shared Draper of her relationship with her fellow Mormon Wives castmates. “There's maybe one that I'm not — Miranda. I screwed that up. And I'm Team Miranda, I have to say.”

Draper went on to share a bit more about the backstory behind the kiss, admitting that it was an “awful” thing to do.

“The thing with Chase is that we had a connection and I was in a vulnerable state and he was really there for me after the divorce,” she said. “MomTok was falling apart during that time — this was when all of the news was breaking — and none of the girls were really talking, and so I was kind of leaning on him, which was the wrong idea.” (At the time, the Hulu series was making headlines for a production pause amid cast member Taylor Frankie Paul and Dakota Mortensen's domestic violence investigations.)

Continued the internet personality on the podcast: “I had just left Jordan, and my emotions were so heightened, and it just happened, and we were drunk.”

After the revelation, podcast host Amanda Hirsch asked why she would be leaning on McWhorter, wondering if he was a “good support system.”

“He is,” replied Draper. “I think that's why he and Miranda are so close — and she would say the same. He's really, really great.”

On March 19, Ngatikaura filed for divorce from Draper, issuing a statement that read, “This has not been an easy decision and it comes with a heavy heart."

During an appearance on the podcast Call Her Daddy less than a week later, Draper alleged that she had experienced “emotional abuse” during her relationship with Ngatikaura. (He has not commented to PEOPLE on her claims.)

In addition to her brief romantic entanglement with McWhorter, Draper turned heads in April when she spent an evening in April cozying up with Vanderpump Villa cast member Marciano Brunette. She previously admitted during Mormon Wives' third season to having an emotional affair with him while she was still married to Ngatikaura — which Ngatikaura would later share, causing the pair of them to spend close to $100,000 in therapy fees to work through.

Close to two months after she announced her divorce, Draper shared on Get Real that she is back in the dating world.

“I'm just open to getting to know people right now,” she said. “I like going out and having fun and making memories because if I'm alone in my house, that's when I'm spiraling.”
