The Food Network star shared what she misses most about her show The Kitchen while speaking with PEOPLE at the Gotham Ball, which benefited the Food Bank for New York City, on May 14, 2026.
The Kitchen, a food-centered talk show on the Food Network that ran for 12 years and featured guests ranging from Daniel Radcliffe to Martha Stewart, ended in 2025. Biegel revealed what she misses most about what she called “an incredible experience": the people.
“I miss my co-host,” she said. Biegel hosted the show alongside Sunny Anderson, Geoffrey Zakarian and Jeff Mauro (as well as frequent guest Alex Guarnaschelli).

“I was texting with Jeffrey Zacharian yesterday and we were saying, ‘I miss [you],' you know, ‘We miss each other. We miss going in each other's dressing rooms and hanging out and just kind of, you know, BSing with each other,'” she said.
She added that she is “so grateful” for the experience.
Biegel is also the mother of a 5-year-old daughter named Iris Marion Biegel, who she shares with husband Ryan Biegel. She unpacked how she balances her work life with her family life.
“I don't know how much balance I have, but I make my priority my daughter and my family,” she said. “That's always going to be number one for us, and then I have to fit everything else in around that, and that's the way I like it.”
One thing about her makes this goal easier, she said.

“I love being home," she admitted. “I'm a homebody, and so I love being home with my kid.”

Biegel is also combining her family and work life in a new endeavor — her husband has been helping her create her YouTube series It's Not Complicated.
“He's a producer so he's producing the show, he's filming it and we're having a great time,” she said.
Biegel recently shared in an Instagram Stories video an accident she had in the kitchen while filming the show, per TV Insider. She said it was her first kitchen incident in her career.
“In all my years of cooking, I have never cut myself,” she said. “I sliced through my fingernail, like, cut my fingernail off, basically, while filming a new episode of It's Not Complicated. So lovely.”
Another post showed her with her bandaged finger with the caption, “One day, I'll have a fingernail again….”
At the Gotham Ball, Biegel shared the importance of the event's benefactor to her.
“As a New Yorker, Food Bank for New York City is so important, and especially given that I am in the food business, it's really, really important to me to give back in this way,” she said.
“My job is all about the excess of food, and there are so many people right here in our city who are food insecure, so I feel that I have a duty to give back,” she added.
She said she's been working with the organization for over a decade, sharing that she recently took her daughter to the organization's Bronx food packing facility for the first time.
“We did a day together packing boxes, and she had the best time,” she said. “I encourage people to start young with your kids.”
