Lindsay Lohan will officially reunite with her Mean Girls director Mark Waters for a new movie.
Henry Golding will join Lohan in the project at Netflix.
The filmmaker also directed Lohan in the 2003 Disney hit Freaky Friday, though he didn’t return for the 2025 sequel.
Lindsay Lohan and Mean Girlsdirector Mark Waters have finally made “fetch” (or something like it) happen, 22 years after they first made the 2004 comedy hit.
The actress and Waters — who also directed Lohan in the 2003 Disney hit Freaky Friday — have officially reteamed for a new movie at Netflix, which is also set to star Crazy Rich Asians breakout, Henry Golding.
Set in the year 2008, Return to You follows Lohan as a “powerful but lonely attorney” who“mistakenly receives a very emotional DVD from a dying woman addressed to her husband.”

With help only from “the clues on the disc, she sets out to find him” throughout the course of the film’s plot.
Lohan will produce the movie, marking the fourth collaboration she’s fronted with Netflix in recent years, amid a career comeback that many have labeled the “Lohannaisance” following the release of Falling for Christmas, Irish Wish, and Our Little Secret between 2022 and 2024.
The actress reunited with another Mean Girls alum, Tim Meadows, in Our Little Secret, a holiday film she also produced for the streaming giant.
The film is the latest in Lohan’s filmography, which has grown significantly since her Falling for Christmas comeback in 2022.

Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis returned to the Freaky Friday universe for last year’s well-received sequelFreakier Friday, though director Nisha Ganatra stepped in to helm the project in original filmmaker Waters’ absence.
In a 2025 Entertainment Weekly cover story, Lohan credited her career resurgence (which also includes an upcoming lead role on the Hulu thriller series Count My Lies) to “manifestation” more than anything.

“I had this thing in my head during COVID, I was like, ‘I want to work with Netflix and do a couple movies, but I want to work with Disney again, too,’” Lohan said at the time. “It came to fruition because I believed it. Those things are meant to happen. I love my life, and I’m grateful for these moments I have.”
Lohan is also currently working on a biopic about Hollywood actress, singer, and dancer Ann-Margret.

“We’re working on the story. It’s exciting,” Lohan said on Watch What Happens Live in November 2024, adding that the film will be “pretty intense,” but that “it has to be the way she wants it to be, so I really want it to be special in that way.”
A release date for Return to You has yet to be announced.
