Natalie Portman Writes Moving Letter to Her Kids About Finding 'Love for Yourself' in Tiffany & Co. Campaign Film

The ad features Portman writing a heartfelt letter to her children about building inner strength and self-love

Natalie Portman has penned a moving letter to her kids.

In a new campaign film for Tiffany & Co., Portman narrates clips of herself throughout New York City. Emulating Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany's, the actress, 44, can be seen standing at a bar, walking on a balcony overlooking Central Park and directing a commercial while the song "Moon River" softly plays in the background.

During the commercial, which debuted as a television spot during the Oscars on Sunday, Portman is shown writing a letter which, at the end of the commercial, is revealed to be addressed to her kids. In a voiceover, Portman, who was recently named Tiffany & Co.'s newest global brand ambassador, dictates the message to her little ones.

"Always remember, inner strength isn’t found. You build it, piece by piece. When you find conviction in moments of doubt, when you find certainty in moments of confusion, when you find joy in the everyday," says Portman, who is seen on set putting on pieces from the brand's HardWear collection in behind the scenes footage shared exclusively with PEOPLE.

"At a table for one, in laughter, in defeat, in grace, in grit, in courage, impatient open hands at the core of what makes us human. You’ll see, you don’t have to be perfect to experience perfect moments," she continues. "This is where inner strength grows best."

"And that’s where you’ll find love. One without expectations or conditions. That’s the most important kind. The love for yourself. With love, Mom."

Portman shares her two kids, daughter Amalia, 8, and son Aleph, 14, with ex-husband Benjamin Millepied.

“It was working with the greatest artists, and then also to tell a story about the many roles a woman plays in her life, from her work to her self-love to her relationship with her kids. It’s rare to get to be able to portray that, especially with regard to jewelry," Portman told WWD about the campaign film, directed by Oscar-nominated Mona Fastvold and Brady Corbet of Magna Studios and shot by cinematographer Hoyte van Hoytema. "I feel like it explores the different kinds of love. I want it to be a celebration of women’s resilience, strength and joy. The joy of discovering your own particular journey and this generational legacy that you leave in terms of what you do with your life, and also the beauty that you bring into your life."

Last April, Portman spoke with actress Jenna Ortega for Interview Magazine and gave a glimpse into her life with her two kids. Portman said that they are her "source of excitement," as she gets a front-row seat to their development.

"My kids are always a source of excitement, because you just see them develop into the individuals they are," she said. "Also, I’ve been spending a lot of time with my friends, with their kids and my kids; that’s pretty fun."

The star also spoke about wanting to keep her kids out of the public eye.

"I’m not a particularly private person in real life—I’ll tell you anything—but in public, it was so clear early on that if you tell people how private you are, your privacy gets respected a lot more, she explained. "I set up a little bit of a barrier to be like, 'I’m not going to do photo shoots with my kids.'”
