During his opening monologue, Wolfhard addressed the fact that he expects things to change now that he and his fellow cast members have aged out of āchild actorā territory.
āSo ⦠meet the new me. The man me. Because Iām not a kid anymore,ā Wolfhard said, before getting interrupted by McLaughlin and Matarazzo as they crashed the stage.
āAnd neither are we!ā McLaughlin said as the trio hugged. āWeāre not child stars, weāre former child stars.ā
āAnd anytime you read āFormer Child Starā in a headline, it can only mean good things,ā joked Matarazzo.
āItās true,ā said Wolfhard. āSo thanks to everyone who watched us grow up on the show.ā
McLaughlin then quipped, āAnd then went online and commented about our changing faces and bodies.ā
Wolfhard took a moment to honor his former costars, saying, āI just wanted to say, even though we are now men, you'll always be my boys,ā while pulling McLaughlin and Matarazzo in for another hug.
The trio also appeared in a Stranger Things skit during the SNL episode.

Wolfhard previously said that he and the Stranger Things costars are like āfamily,ā even if they donāt talk every day. "We're not on everyday-text vibes in any way ⦠because ⦠it's like, do you text your cousins every day?ā he said in a February 2023 interview with GQ.
"Probably not. They're our family. We'll talk on each other's birthdays. We'll talk once in a while. But in the same way that family works, if I ever needed anything, they're there," he added.
