Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, along with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, reunited with King Charles, who was also joined by his wife, Queen Camilla, on July 10, 2026, at Highgrove House, which is the King’s country residence in Gloucestershire. While many details of the reunion are still kept under wraps, a royal commentator has now tried to weigh in on Harry’s motives behind this highly publicized meeting.
Royal commentator Kinsey Schofield has alleged that Harry’s objective behind the reunion with his father might be to “find his way back” to his elder brother, Prince William, and the Royal family that he had distanced himself from in 2020 to pursue professional and financial independence along with his wife.
Royal Commentator Speculates Prince Harry’s Motives Behind His Reunion with His Father
The private meeting marked Charles’ reunion with his grandchildren, Archie and Lilibet, after four years. According to a news report in Express.co.uk, the reunion with his father might have left the Duke of Sussex to consider stabilizing his relationship with the Royal Family again.
An insider close to the development also hinted that Harry wishes to find a balance between living in the United States and the U.K. The source claimed that the Spare author also wishes for his children to enjoy some aspects of the Royal Family that shaped his own childhood.
However, TalkTV presenter Kevin O’Sullivan questioned whether Prince Harry can so easily think of patching things up with the Royal Family after numerous controversies and conflicts have taken place between them, making way for several Royal scandals.
Sullivan questioned whether the Harry & Meghan star thinks that the Royal family can move on very easily from their rifts after his recent meeting with his father.
Did Harry’s Professional Setbacks Lead to the Reunion?
Royal commentator Kinsey Schofield further argued that his attempt to rebuild his relationship with the Royal institution might stem from setbacks in his current professional and personal life.

Schofield said, “If Harry and Meghan had a blossoming Netflix career and they were preparing to launch Meet Me at the Lake and the Afghanistan movie and were excited about some new projects on the horizon… there is no way in hell Prince Harry would be crawling on his knees begging daddy to take him back.”
The Royal commentator also added that the reunion with King Charles is Prince Harry’s last resort to stabilize his relationship with the Royal Family.
Schofield further alleged that the couple has also been facing financial difficulties over having spent a mammoth amount of money on their security. The rumours of the Sussexes facing financial distress also started doing the rounds again after Harry lost his High Court privacy lawsuit against Associated Newspapers Limited on July 5, 2026, with a rumoured upwards of nearly $67 million.
The Royal commentator said, “I think he realizes the only way he can survive is daddy.” Meanwhile, while Prince Harry may be hopeful that things will eventually improve between him and his elder brother, reports suggest Prince William has “closed all the doors” to a reunion. The Prince of Wales reportedly feels that Harry has his own “selfish and cynical” motives behind rebuilding his relationship with the institution.
