The lavish ceremony was held at St. Paul's Cathedral in London and drew a staggering 750 million viewers across 74 countries. The occasion represented the first time in 300 years that a British citizen wed an heir to the throne.
The wedding had a price tag of $48 million (£36 million), equivalent to approximately $180 million (£135 million) in today's currency.

According to a royal source, Diana allegedly spilled an entire bottle of perfume across her gown while preparing for the momentous day.
The fragrance was created by the official royal perfumer, House of Houbigant, so fortunately she would have smelled wonderful.
Discussing the gown in 2020, designer Elizabeth Emanuel told British Vogue: "It was all about drama and making Diana a fairytale princess," adding, "The gown was typical of early '80s style - overblown, romantic, flouncy - but we had to get it right because we knew it would go down in history."

Princess Diana's wedding gown was created over a three-month period, constructed from specially dyed ivory silk taffeta. The dress featured elaborate hand embroidery, incorporating no fewer than 10,000 micro pearls.

The gown was among the most eagerly awaited elements of the royal wedding, though the trip to the venue nearly compromised its appearance.
The magnificent ivory silk taffeta and lace creation featured a voluminous skirt, dramatic puffy sleeves, and a 25-foot train.
The iconic 1980s dress was then crammed into a relatively compact carriage to transport Diana and her father to the church, resulting in noticeable creasing upon arrival.
Diana called Charles by wrong name in the vows
Diana made a minor error during her vows and misspoke Charles's name.
The anxious bride inadvertently reversed Charles' two first names and referred to him as Philip Charles Arthur George, rather than Charles Philip Arthur George.
Diana also personalized her wedding vows, choosing not to include the word "obey".
Rather, she declared during the globally-televised ceremony at St. Paul's Cathedral that she would "love him, comfort him, honour and keep him, in sickness and in health".
