Sai De Silva is revealing what led to her and husband David Craig’s divorce in the latest episode of The Real Housewives of New York City.
On the Tuesday, Sept. 28, episode of RHONY, De Silva, 45, revealed the breaking point in her and Craig’s marriage while talking to her aunt, Sufia. When Sufia told De Silva that she doesn’t seem happy in her marriage, the TV personality said there was no affection between them and that they no longer went on dates.
De Silva recalled going out with Craig for her 45th birthday. There were moments she felt sparks and believed they could mend their relationship, but that feeling dissipated when she discovered who had actually paid for their night out.

“He takes me to a very expensive restaurant, and we had a beautiful time. We came home. We had amazing sex. Everything was great. I was like, ‘Okay, all right, I feel this,’” the housewife explained. “However, I started looking at all the credit card bills, only to realize the dinner is on my credit card.”
“I said, ‘David! You made me pay for my own dinner? My own birthday dinner? And that’s when I knew… What’s left?”
Earlier in their conversation, Sufia asked De Silva why Craig would want to stay in a relationship that has no affection. She responded, “I think he liked the illusion of being my husband. I think he liked the illusion of being a family unit, and I think he likes the lifestyle.”

Craig filed for divorce from De Silva on April 2 after nearly a decade of marriage. At the time of Craig’s filing, the case was listed as “contested,” and De Silva had not yet submitted a response, according to court records obtained by PEOPLE. The pair share two children: daughter London, 15, and son Rio, 9.

Following Craig’s divorce filing, De Silva largely kept quiet about what happened between the two. That changed when she opened up to her fellow housewife Jessel Taank, about the downfall of their marriage on the season 16 premiere of RHONY. “We’ve completely drifted apart,” De Silva said. “We do nothing together… I feel so alone.”
De Silva also told Taank that she feels financially responsible for their family.

Speaking exclusively to PEOPLE in September, the blogger-turned-influencer shared that she felt “very lonely” and that she and Craig were no longer “watering” their marriage. “He’s not only to blame, but so am I,” De Silva said. “And it just gotten to a point that I knew that this marriage was no longer going to rectify itself and I was no longer willing to stick around for it. I have nothing left. I’m tired.”
De Silva also noted that they have both changed and are no longer the people they were when they got married. “I’m not the same person I was when I was 28 years old, and I’m sure he’s not either,” she said. “Marriage, if you don’t grow together, you grow apart, and a lot of things have grown apart between us.”
The reality star explained that she has learned to be vulnerable and is tired of the “facade” she’s been upholding. “I think for a long time I was walking around as if I was invincible and I had this armor, and I am done with it,” De Silva said. “I’m taking it off.”
In an excerpt from an essay posted to her Substack on Sept. 9 — which PEOPLE shared exclusively — De Silva wrote, “I feel like I’m finally ready to start living. Living for me. Living unapologetically, authentically, transparently.”
