Charlie Sheen is heading back to television, and this time his real-life dad, Martin Sheen, will be right beside him.
The father-son duo is set to play father and son in Happy Jack, a new AMC comedy that puts Charlie back in a leading TV role more than a decade after Anger Management ended. The pair have shared the screen before, but the new series will give their family dynamic center stage. Charlie will play Jack, a man whose father, portrayed by Martin, has done much of the work raising Jack's two daughters.

The six-episode comedy follows Jack as he faces a painful choice about whether to keep putting himself first or finally become a dependable parent. That reckoning begins when one daughter brings home a new boyfriend. Jack is stunned to discover that the former investment banker-turned van-life guru is the same age as him.
The show comes from Jim Patterson and Matt Ross, who previously worked with Charlie on Two and a Half Men. Production is expected to begin in Los Angeles early next year, with a premiere planned for 2027.

Charlie made no secret of what the project means to him.

“I’ve always heard the moments that truly matter happen when they’re supposed to,” he said in a statement. “The good folks at AMC have played a huge hand in deciding that moment is now.”
He added, “It’s no secret that it’s been a minute, and I’m thrilled to be going back on television in such a meaningful way in an equally wonderful show.”
While Happy Jack marks a significant TV return, Charlie has not entirely vanished from screens. He appeared as himself in the comedy Bookie, a reunion with Two and a Half Men creator Chuck Lorre after their bitter public fallout.
Charlie was fired from the hit sitcom in 2011 following a period of drug-related problems and attacks on Lorre. Ashton Kutcher replaced him. He later fronted Anger Management, which ended in 2014.

In recent years, Charlie has spoken publicly about his addiction and recovery. His 2025 memoir, The Book of Sheen, and a documentary revisited his rise to fame and the turmoil that followed.
The new project also revives a long-running on-screen partnership with Martin. They played father and son in the 1987 film Wall Street and again in Anger Management. Martin also appeared in Charlie's shows Spin City and Two and a Half Men.
Unlike those previous appearances, Happy Jack puts both Sheens at the heart of its story from the start.
The series is planned as AMC's first multi-camera comedy, filmed in front of a live studio audience at Warner Bros. Studios. The network has ordered six half-hour episodes for its first season.
